Are you ready to Boogaloo? This Friday and Saturday (May 22nd & 23rd) marks the 4th annual
Bayou Boogaloo Music Festival. Located on the banks of Bayou St. John this festival has quickly become a community favorite. Did I mention that it’s free! The Bayou Boogaloo features two stages showcasing 20 of the Crescent City’s top musical acts, arts and crafts displays, a wide variety of eats and the largest arts market of any of the many New Orleans festivals. Through the
Mothership Foundation, 50% of the net proceeds from the arts market will be donated to the
3 Ring Circus Arts Education Center. Not to be out done, the Bayou Boogaloo will utilize solar powered stages and bio-diesel generators. It will also showcase locally grown organ produce and offer education on sustainable living and costal erosion. Some of the talent that will be on display at this year's Boogaloo are: Little Freddie King, the Soul Rebels Brass Band, Billy Iuso & the Restless Natives, Charmaine Neville, Russell Batiste, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, the Honey Island Swamp Band, GrooveSect & Rotary Downs. For the complete lineup click here. Of course we'll be there pulling our usual shenanigans. Continue reading to view a photoset from last year’s Bayou Boogaloo…
